This Classic Baroque Splendid You Are Witnessing Is The Oldest Roman Catholic Cathedral In Palakkad Built For Tamil Christians By The British With The Help Of Italian Bishops In 1861-63 Period. Although This Church Was Started As A Small One In 1768. It Is Only In The 19th Century This Was Built In Its Present Form.

This Beautiful Building Was Built By Tippu Sultan For Storing Weapons & Also Used As A Granary Till The Permanent Evacuation Day In The Year 1784. After The Official Signing Of Treaty Of SriRangapattanam In 1790, By Tippu Sultan The Entire Malabar Was Transfered To The Hands Of Colonel Fullerton & Commander Wood Of British East India Company.
From 1860's Onwards, The Cantonment Inside The Fort Got Shifted To Cannanore.(Kannur) This Building Become The Chief Granary For The Municipality Of Palghat.
